Smoke Alert for JARRAHDALE, KARRAKUP and surrounding areas in the SHIRE OF SERPENTINE-JARRAHDALE
A Smoke Alert has been issued for people in JARRAHDALE, KARRAKUP and surrounding areas in the SHIRE OF SERPENTINE-JARRAHDALE.
Smoke may be visible for people travelling along Jarrahdale Road and road users should drive to the conditions.
The smoke is the result of a Parks and Wildlife Service prescribed burn being carried out 5km east of Jarrahdale.
The smoke is expected to be visible for several days as prescribed burn operations continue in the area.
WHAT TO DO
- Shut doors and windows and turn off air-conditioners.
- If driving through the area, turn on headlights and drive slowly. If you cannot see clearly, pull over to the left, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears.
- People with asthma and pre-existing respiratory or cardiovascular illnesses should follow their pre-prepared treatment plan.
- If affected by smoke contact your doctor or call 1800MEDICARE (1800 633 422).
- Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.
