Smoke Alert for GINGIN, MOOLIABEENEE and surrounding areas in the SHIRE OF GINGIN and SHIRE OF CHITTERING
A Smoke Alert has been issued for people in GINGIN, MOOLIABEENEE and surrounding areas in the SHIRE OF GINGIN and SHIRE OF CHITTERING.
Motorists travelling on Brand Highway and surrounding roads are advised smoke may be visible. Please drive to conditions.
Smoke may also be visible in the early hours of Friday morning in areas around PINJAR to YEAL, including reduced visibility along Old Yanchep Road and Indian Ocean Drive.
The smoke is the result of a Parks and Wildlife Service prescribed burn being carried out south-west of Gingin.
The smoke is expected to clear by Friday morning.
WHAT TO DO
- Shut doors and windows and turn off air-conditioners.
- If driving through the area, turn on headlights and drive slowly. If you cannot see clearly, pull over to the left, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears.
- People with asthma and pre-existing respiratory or cardiovascular illnesses should follow their pre-prepared treatment plan.
- If affected by smoke contact your doctor or call 1800MEDICARE (1800 633 422).
- Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully. Road information may also be available from Main Roads WA by visiting the Main Roads Travel Map, calling 138 138 or by contacting your Local Government Authority.
