Smoke Alert
for SAWYERS VALLEY, MUNDARING, CHIDLOW, MOUNT HELENA and surrounding areas of the PERTH HILLS in the SHIRE OF MUNDARING
A Smoke Alert has been issued for people in SAWYERS VALLEY, MUNDARING, CHIDLOW, MOUNT HELENA and surrounding areas of the PERTH HILLS in the SHIRE OF MUNDARING.
Smoke may be visible for motorists travelling along Great Eastern Highway. Road users should drive to the conditions.
The smoke is from small Parks and Wildlife Service prescribed burns approximately 1km southeast of Mundaring and 3km southwest of Sawyers Valley.
Smoke may settle in low lying areas before clearing on Monday morning.
WHAT TO DO
- Shut doors and windows and turn off air-conditioners.
- If driving through the area, turn on headlights and drive slowly. If you cannot see clearly, pull over to the left, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears.
- People with asthma and pre-existing respiratory or cardiovascular illnesses should follow their pre-prepared treatment plan.
- If affected by smoke contact your doctor or call 1800MEDICARE (1800 633 422).
- Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.
